Case Study

Foundation Sixty6 is an organization in London, Ontario where they help people and families struggling with mental illness seek the help they need.

When they were first starting up, they came to Fanshawe College and asked the students to create, well, almost everything for them. They came in with a name, goal, history, and passion, and it was up to the students to turn all of that into something they would be proud of. A website, a marketing campaign, promotional videos, all the works.

I was the front-end lead of the project, taking care of coding the website and ensuring all of the deliverables were met. The website wasn't the only duty I took on, however. I also helped manage deadlines and ensured all deliverables were met. I also provided consistent feedback to ensure everything was accurate to Foundation's goal and deliver professional materials as well.

Not only that, but the Foundation had a lot of heart, and I wanted to display that as well. The Foundation joked during a meeting with them about bringing donuts for the first presentation, and that's exactly what I did! I surprised them and received a hug for my thoughtfulness. We were told during that presentation that we truly understood the Foundation's objective and goals.

Project wise, a lot of the group had a lot of ideas on what to do, so one of the biggest challenges was how to consolidate all of that information. We couldn't take on more than what we can chew with our school and life balance. Eventually, with much discussion, we settled on a set of pages that are effective and what we can handle as well.

The website posed a lot of little challenges here and there, such as sizing issues, especially when it comes to XL size. Aside from those issues, and having to convert some areas with Vue and Lumen, it felt like a pretty straightforward project.

This website, to me, isn't just a website for the Foundation, but an encapsulation of everyone's ambitions. The Foundation's in their quest to support those with mental health struggles, and our group's in wanting to succeed and wanting to give clients something they could be proud of. After all, this was our very first client project, and the gateway to our careers.
