Description:

A fic I wrote based on a character in Fire Emblem Heroes.

Case Study

With this fic, I had the idea of created a Frankenstein-esque story based on one of the game's banners. That specific banner had my favourite character, L'Arachel, dressed as a mad scientist, and her retainer, Dozla, was dressed as a monster. I was so happy when she was announced, since Halloween is also my favourite holiday, so I channeled that energy into making something creative.

Fire Emblem is rich of lore, locations, and items I could use to craft a story that could make this become a reality. The only real limitation is that, since it's a game based off medieval times, technology is near non-existent. There is magic in this universe which can be used to mimic some modern day appliances such as cameras, but I wouldn't need any of that.

Fire Emblem, if played unoptimally, or if you're just unlucky, can be full of death, especially in the older games. However, there are a few ways to revive units if the worst should happen. A magical staff and a special fountain are but two examples. So my thought was "What if the story tells of a princess who tries to reanimate her retainer, but ends up with a monster instead."

The reason why I went with "princess" and not specifically "L'Arachel" is because I had the idea of writing it in the perspective of L'Arachel telling the story. As she has a loud and boisterous personality, she would naturally make herself the protagonist, but not to refer to herself as such.

This fic was pretty smooth in terms of process, but the biggest problem was distribution. Because this dealt with death and corpses, I had to be respectful and put tags on it to warn people in case they get triggered. Which, I honestly don't mind. I'd rather be respectful in that regard. However, numbers were down than usual for this fic and I suspect that's the reason why. Oh well, those that did read it, I'm sure enjoyed it at the very least!
